Online casino groupīs license terminated

The Australia-based Tusk Investment Corporation Limited which owns a number of online casinos and poker rooms was notified today (Wednesday) that its gambling software licence has been terminated by turnkey provider Microgaming. The termination came after Tusk advised the software company that it planned to go into liquidation.

Last week, the private player protection and standards body eCOGRA suspended its accreditation "Safe and Fair" gambling seal for the group after a routine professional review discovered unspecified non-compliance issues (see previous InfoPowa report)

In today's statement, Microgaming advised:

"Microgaming announces that it has terminated its software licence with Tusk Investment Corporation - with immediate effect, after having received Tusk's notification of its plans to put the Company into liquidation.

"Microgaming is presently gathering all facts related to this matter and will provide further announcements as and when information becomes available."

A spokesman for Microgaming declined to give further information but emphasised that further statements would be made as and when information can be made available.

On two occasions in the past, and without having any legal obligation to do so, Microgaming has set up Players' Trust arrangements to ensure that any players left unpaid by failed licensees are protected. It is not yet known if this precaution will again be taken in the case of Tusk.
