eCOGRA survey completed
eCOGRA (eCommerce and Online Gambling Regulation and Assurance), the online gambling industry's player protection and standards authority, announced this week that it will launch its much anticipated Global Online Gambler Report at the International Casino Exhibition in London early next year. The results will be released at a press conference at 10h30 on Tuesday January 23rd at Earl's Court.
Some 11 000 online poker and casino players worldwide took the opportunity to have their say in what has been widely reported as the largest research initiative ever undertaken into the behaviour and attitudes of online gamblers. The responses from the players have been supplemented with a series of focus groups in major markets, which concluded in November.
Covering areas such as poker, casino, player protection, responsible gambling and even luck, the Global Online Gambler Report gives a comprehensive snapshot of the global industry as it enters a new phase of development.
The survey was devised and carried out in global locations by a leading gambling research team from Nottingham Trent University, supported by the University of Nevada (Las Vegas).
eCOGRA is confident that the results will create a better understanding of players' needs and concerns; information vital to its goal of continuing to offer the player community a rewarding and safe online gambling experience.
Andrew Beveridge, CEO, eCOGRA says: "Early indications show that there will be some surprises in the report and we think it will be very revealing for both industry insiders and a wider public."
eCOGRA provides an international framework for best operational and player practice requirements enforced through inspections, reviews, and continuous monitoring. To date, 112 online gambling websites comply with these requirements and have been awarded the organisation's distinctive "Play It Safe" Seal, identifying to players the safest online gambling sites on the Web.
