More gambling sites vow to accept US players
More online casinos and poker rooms have vowed to continue accepting US players in announcements concerning the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act over the past 24 hours.
Playtech-powered XXL Club Casino said in a statement: "We have no intention of stopping any of our US customers. The bill passed does not make it illegal for you to bet or for us to accept bets, so it will be business as usual.
"The vast majority of all deposits processed by our company are processed through non US payment processors. It is currently unclear how these payment processors, based outside the United States, with no assets, presence or employees in the US, would be affected by this bill."
Jungle Poker.com, powered by DGS emailed players saying: "With the recent developments in the US, we wanted to let you know that JunglePoker will continue to service new and existing players from the United States. Our business will continue to run as usual.
"JunglePoker is a privately held business located wholly outside the United States, and its operations are 100% legal under International and Costa Rican law.
"New legislation will not criminalize individuals for playing poker online. Instead, the bill will eventually attempt to prevent the transfer of funds to online gaming.
Poker.com, which uses proprietary software, released a statement claiming that: "The passing of this act through Congress will have no affect on operations at Poker.com. We are not planning to close the accounts of US players, and all funds within player accounts are perfectly safe and will always be readily accessible. It is worth noting that the act is primarily related to financial transactions between gaming businesses and banks and no penalties have been introduced to discourage individual citizens who wish to play poker online."
On the negative side, Maxima Casino and Acropolis Casino, both powered by Playtech advised US players they would be blocked, whilst as we went to press unconfirmed reports were coming in that Mansion Casino (proprietary software) had decided to ban US players as well.
