Nine.com joins the Kratina aid Effort

Another online gambling company has joined the effort to provide aid to the victims of Hurricane Katrina (see earlier InfoPowa reports)

The president of the Nine.com gambling group, Bob Evans flew into Houston over the weekend to join a team waiting with several large truckloads of relief items such as nutrition bars, bottled water, blankets, pampers, flashlights and other necessities, all subsequently driven to Dallas, Texas. The supplies were taken to the Astrodome and other refugee staging areas, where Nine.com staff helped pass out the supplies personally.

Publicity was the last thing on Evans's mind, and the gambling exec said that it was "...just a great feeling to simply give anything you can, drive it right into the fray, roll up your sleeves and pitch in as the best way for Nine.com to make an immediate impact."

The company also plans to run a celebrity poker tournament to raise money for the victims of Katrina.

Nine.com is not the only online gaming company trying to help; Bodog, Poker Stars and Absolute poker companies have all mounted generous fund-raising efforts within hours of the disaster.
