Most online gambling sites continue to welcome US players

11.10.2006

More than 110 sites have officially declared their intention to stop accepting U.S. players since the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, according to a Casino City analysis. The list includes 888.com, Party Gaming, Cryptologic, Boss Media and Playtech powered operations and others.

Considering that there are an estimated 2 500 or more gambling venues available on the Internet helps put this into perspective.

Many top sites say they are waiting to see the legislation's impact before deciding on whether to stay in the U.S. market. Casino City expects 85-to-90 percent of the sites in their directory to continue to accept U.S. players.

Casino City is contacting each of the 2 639 properties in its listings to determine their intentions and give American gamers the most up-to-date information on who is and isn't accepting their bets. Listings are updated continuously.

"The information gathering process has been a challenge," said Emily Hunt, content development manager for Casino City. "While software suppliers are releasing statements saying they are no longer accepting U.S. players, gaming site owners are saying that it's 'business as usual.'"

"Extra effort goes into finding out what the real deal is and why there is conflicting information," Hunt added. "We need to get through every site as quickly as possible without jeopardising accuracy (of the information)."

Casino City employees are contacting each site. And nothing is posted until an official statement is released and confirmed by an actual employee.

Casino City's Special Project Manager, Steven Corfman, said each statement is reviewed and then posted to the site.

Casino City Visitors can find out if their online casino or poker room is accepting U.S. players by visiting http://online.casinocity.com. Once there, users can scroll through the rankings pages or search for the casino by URL. U.S. player restrictions are clearly denoted by a crossed-out American Flag and comprehensive information is available for every online gaming site.
