Kudos to UK online and land gambling group Stanleybet International, which has pledged a million Euros in earthquake relief assistance to victims of the calamitous Italian earthquakes earlier this month.
The funds will go to the hard-hit City Council of L’Aquila for use in reconstruction and aid initiatives, a Stanleybet spokesman said this week.
John Whittaker, managing director of the gambling group, said: “The earthquake has damaged a number of our shops and as part of the L’Aquila community, we have decided to act immediately not only by words, but by offering real help to people damaged by the earthquake.”
The 6.3 magnitude earthquake was the largest since 1997, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, and resulted in the tragic death of over 200 people.
