After just under eight years as head of remote gambling at the Italian regulator Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli (AAMS) Francesco Rodano has resigned to join IGT as international business development director.

Agipronews reports that Rodano joined AAMS as head of the general manager secretariat, and was subsequently promoted to lead the remote gaming regulatory division through a key period in AAMS development which saw the Italian online market liberalised.

A graduate of the Università degli Studi di Roma ‘La Sapienza’, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in statistics in 1994 and for three years worked as a Rome-based marketing manager at Business International. In 2001 he moved to Euler Hermes as marketing and internet development manager, leaving after a year to head up marketing and fund raising for Rome’s Fondazione Musica per Roma – Auditorium Parco della Musica.

He joined AAMS mid-year 2007, where most recently he has been responsible for the development and regulation of the online gaming/gambling market in Italy, working in close contact with European Union institutions.

He speaks French, Italian and English fluently and is a member of the Expert Group on Gambling Services, established by the European Commission.
