Anti-online gambling lawmaker appointed to head key house committee

News on 24 Nov 2014

Rep. Jason Chaffetz, a Republican from Utah who is now notorious in the industry for introducing to the House the Restoration of the American Wire Act proposal seeking to ban most forms of internet gambling, has been appointed chairman of the powerful House Oversight Committee.

Chaffetz, who has served vociferously on the committee for the last four years, takes over from Rep. Darrell Issa, who had to step down because of term limits on chairmen.
