News on 8 Dec 2010

At a joint press conference held this week, Phillippe Germond, CEO of the French Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) and the Minister of Budget of Wallonie as well as Belgian horseracing industry representatives announced a deal which will see Belgian bettors able to bet on French races within the next few weeks, reported harnesslink.com.
The deal marks PMU’s goal to deploy the company’s activities in foreign countries.  In effect the deal will see the Belgian horseracing industry partially financed by the PMU who said the French model which consists of financing the harness racing industry, should work in other countries.  They also intend offering their services to the prevention of excessive gambling to the Belgian industry.
Interlinked with the release, representatives from the French racing channel, Equidia, were in discussion for the inclusion of TV feeds in one of Belgium’s broadcast offerings.
