Belgium gets tough on unlicenced operators

The Belgian Gaming Commission (BGC) has reportedly entered into an agreement with internet service providers (ISP) and financial institutions that will effectively block access to and empower banks to refuse transactions for unlicenced online operators.

The BGC will provide ISP’s and banks with a black list of unlicenced “illegal” operators from January 2012 reports Dutch publication De Standaard.

Marjolein De Paepe from the Belgian Gaming Commission commented:  “Games of chance have always been forbidden, unless the gaming commission has issued a permit for them. Thanks to this agreement, we now have a powerful weapon in the fight against illegal online gaming, where before we could only wag our finger.”
