Bet365 extends horseracing sponsorship

The Sandown Park Racecourse will benefit significantly from a three-year extension to the sponsorship agreement that it enjoys with the UK online gambling group bet365.

In an announcement this week, bet365 revealed that it has extended the existing agreement to sponsor an annual two-day horseracing meet held at the track in the closing days of April each year, which will now run until 2017.

Bet365 will score from publicity around the Bet365 Meet and display privileges at the venue. Other Sandown races that will push the Bet365 identity include the Celebration Chase, Gold Cup Steeple Chase, Flat Friday and the Jump Finale.

Steve Ibberson, bet365’s m.d. for gaming, said the extension of the sponsorship deal carried on an association that has turned the Bet365 Meet into one of the industry’s signature events.

“The time and effort from all those involved in driving the improvements have been considerable and it now stands as a true celebration of racing marking the official end of the Jump season,” Ibberson said.

Rupert Trevelyan, a Sandown director, said: “This new agreement will take bet365’s involvement to ten years by the running of the 2017 meeting, and Sandown Park is immensely grateful for their support.”
