Betfair operational chief on the way out

For reasons that are not yet clear, Betfair’s highly experienced group operations director, Ian Chuter, is to leave the company after three-and-half years in-post.

Chuter joined the company in July 2011, tasked with overseeing Betfair’s global customer operations team, which includes telephone betting, market operations, fraud, payments and trading. The role was a new position, reflecting Betfair’s commitment to making Operations a more significant focus for the business.

The industry veteran has over 30 years’ industry experience that includes a nine year career at William Hill where he was Group Head of International and UK Operations. This role saw him head up William Hill’s Retail and Telephone divisions, with responsibility for more than 2,300 licensed betting shops and 13,000 employees across the UK and Ireland.

Chuter’s previous experience was also at William Hill as Operations Director for the UK and Europe and Group Director for Sports Book and Gaming. He was also a Non-executive Director of William Hill Online.
