Caesars denies bid for GameSys

News on 8 Feb 2011

Industry observers were intrigued by a report in the UK newspaper The Guardian this week which claimed that Caesars Entertainment (formerly Harrah’s) had made an attempt to purchase its UK software provider Gamesys but that the private company was not interested in selling.
The Interactive division of Caesars has a strong relationship with Gamesys which powers its UK online bingo sites.
Although The Guardian source didn’t disclose the amount offered, industry observers have noted that the Jackpotjoy site owned by Gamesys has over three million users and a fair offer would be in the region of GBP300 million.
Four years ago PartyGaming made a bid for GameSys for GBP 200 million pounds which was affected by the intervention of American anti-gambling legislation which seriously impacted PartyGaming.
Late Tuesday afternoon both GameSys and Caesars stated that there was no substance to the Guardian report.
