Playtech veterans gather in Sagi’s new venture

Former Playtech chairman Roger Withers has joined Teddy Sagi’s newly AIM-listed payment processing company SafeCharge International Group Limited as non-executive chairman of the board.

Withers has more than 30 years’ experience in the leisure and gaming industries, and has been an advisor of Playtech Limited since October 2013, and is chairman of Tote Direct.

He served as an acting managing director of Sportech plc from November 2004 to September 2005, and has been non-executive chairman of Sportech since February 2011.

Prior to that he was managing director of Coral and chairman of Bass Leisure, South Africa.

During his business career Withers has been involved at a senior level in the betting, gaming and leisure industries in the UK and internationally, serving with Ladbrokes, Bass and Littlewoods Leisure, where he has been executive chairman since October 2001

He started his career with Booz, Allen & Hamilton as an international management consultant. In 1973 he joined Ladbrokes where he held a number of senior positions in the bookmaking, casino, lottery and gaming machine divisions.

Withers served as the non-executive chairman of Playtech Inc. and Playtech Limited until October 10, 2013, and was a director of Playtech Limited from March 28, 2006 to October 9, 2013.

He has also served as an non-executive chairman of Arena Leisure plc from October 2001 to March 1, 2006 and as a director until March 1, 2006.

Other directorates on his resume include senior independent director of Optimal Payments (Ireland) Limited since May 8, 2005; director of ATE Holdings Ltd and a number of non-executive directorships in the leisure, exhibition and technology industries.
