SHFL to use Unity development middleware

Unity Technologies, provider of multi-platform engine and development tools, announced its second with a gaming company this week, signing up SHFL (formerly known as Shufflemaster) in a multi-year strategic partnership.

Earlier this week Unity inked a similar deal with Bally Technologies

Using the Unity engine, SHFL entertainment will expand its popular gaming entertainment content through value-add products, a company spokesman said Friday.

Unity middleware is widely used by slot manufacturers and online gambling companies around the world to create interactive gambling content, and is one of the most widely adopted middleware solutions for development in the gambling industry.

Shufflemaster backed out of a $24.5 million deal to acquire the Ongame Poker network from Bwin Party earlier this year, but has achieved licensing in Nevada as an online poker technology provider . Ongame was subsequently sold to Amaya Gaming.

“Technology is at the heart of all we do,” said a spokesman for SHFL. “We believe that product innovation, superior quality and service makes gaming more fun for players and more profitable for operators.  Our new work with the Unity engine will help us deliver this value even further.”
