Unibet awarded Belgian licence

News on 5 Jul 2012

Online gambling group Unibet is among the latest batch of companies to receive online gambling licenses from the Belgian Gaming Commission, scoring an internet sports betting licence.

Other companies in the new tranche of licenses are Blitz NV, empowering it to operate an online gambling site branded Blitz.be, and Pavaber SA, which will manage a site branded Mirage Games.be.

Throwing a negative shadow over the good licensing news, the Commission advised that five more companies have been added to its controversial blacklist, and will be blocked from Belgian punters.

One of the new additions, 2.bwin.com is believed to be a workaround on that company’s original blocked url.

Others include one of the top British internet gambling companies, bet365; SJ Bet.at; Maasland Games.be; and 7Red.com.
