Stan James (Gibraltar) Limited has issued a statement clarfiying the position regarding a report in a Gibraltar newspaper that a consolidation of customer relations and support services is underway.
The statement reveals that Stan James (Gibraltar) Limited has acquired the customer database from the group’s separate UK business: Stan James (Abingdon) Limited.
Peter Fisher, CEO of Stan James comments: “The acquisition is one of a number that Stan James has completed in the last 12 months. It is a strategic move by Stan James as part of its growth strategy in an industry which is seeing consolidation.
“It makes sound commercial sense for Stan James to increase its customer base by making suitable acquisitions such as this one. The consolidation of remote [online] operations in Gibraltar enables Stan James to streamline overheads and service the business under one focused brand.
“The acquisition also represents a fantastic opportunity to extend our industry leading service to new customers who can continue to access a full range of sportsbook and e-gaming products via the internet, telephone and mobile channels.
“It is a legal requirement that all UK staff are offered employment by Stan James in Gibraltar on the same terms as they enjoy now. If those staff choose not to relocate, the acquisition will create a number of new roles in Gibraltar which will be recruited from the local employment market. When the consultation with UK staff is complete Stan James will be able to confirm the number of new roles available.
“We understand that Stan James (Abingdon) Limited will continue to focus on expanding its estate of retail betting outlets from its UK HQ at Grove Technology Park.”
