Movie star made good money off sports betting

The publication Contactmusic this week carried an interesting report on the sports betting activities of movie and television actor Ashton Kutcher, quoting from his forthcoming interview with the magazine Esquire.

Kutcher apparently boasted to the magazine that he once fronted a gambling syndicate in which he and his friends profited by some $750,000 in just four weeks of college football.

Kutcher claims the sports betting firms the syndicate was betting with thought he was just a dumb actor based on his acting persona in various television and movie projects, and he took advantage of this to shrewdly wager and win on college football matches.

The actor told the March issue of Esquire magazine: ”I actually used to be a front for the largest national sports-betting syndicate in America…we were clearing like GBP 484,402 in four weeks of college football. It was pretty fun. Then they caught on. The hypothesis had been that the house would just assume that I was a dumb actor with a lot of money who liked football.”
