Dutch Government ramps up its consulting on internet gambling regulation

News on 11 Jan 2013

The Dutch approach to introducing a regulatory and licensing dispensation for online gambling may be slow, but it is increasingly apparent that it is thorough.

In the latest development in its consulting phase, the government has scheduled a meeting in The Hague on January 28 where interested parties will have the opportunity to give their views on critical issues such as taxation levels, licensing restrictions and operational aspects impacted by regulation like ID and age verification and the development of responsible gambling precautions.

The Netherlands Gaming Authority is already actively canvassing opinions through a written communication program asking prospective licence holders to answer a series of relevant questions.
