Online sportsbetting bust in Taiwan

A 35-year-old Taiwanese man, identified only as Chang, has been arrested for operating illegal online betting websites in Taipei since January 2018 from his home.

Authorities said the man had accepted wagers amounting to 40 million New Taiwan Dollars (NT$), or GBP 996,541, on FIFA related football betting over the past two weeks through the V13.net and tga888.net domains and NT$140 million (GBP 3,487,683) since the start of operations in January.

Authorities seized computers, monitors, bookings, mobile phones, bank books and NT$1.9 million in cash during the raid.
