The presidentially-driven initiative against illegal online gambling operators in the Philippines continued Monday with the arrest in a police raid in Pasig of 15 Chinese and one Filipino national.

Philippine National Police spokesman Senior Superintendent Dionardo Carlos said agents of the Anti-Cybercrime Group served a search warrant on YD International Inc., at the 18th floor of the Belvedere tower on San Miguel Ave., on Monday night and then searched the premises.

The raiding team seized computers, mobile phones, tablets, Chinese ATM cards, passports and identification cards, he revealed.

In related news The Manila Times reported police general Ronald Dela Rosa has revealed that his personnel are currently investigating an unnamed police general for receiving bribes from illegal gambling interests.

Dela Rosa said that the PNP’s Counter-Intelligence Task Force (CITF) started an inquiry after receiving a complaint, and that a task force led by Senior Supt. Jose Chiquito Malayo is looking into the allegations.

“This is pertaining to collection of gambling payola but it is being confirmed,” Dela Rosa said, warning police officers who are protecting gambling lords that they will be targeted by the CITF.
