The Swedish gaming authority Lotteriinspektionen has subpoenaed local newspapers Aftonbladet and Expressen for providing links to offshore gambling operators via their websites.

The subpoena focuses on the clickable links which it says promote participation in offshore lotteries, but does not focus on advertising as such.

According to the authority, the two newspapers face a fine of 45 000 kroner (Euro 5 200) per day should they elect to not remove the offending links from their websites.
