Betfair fills senior position

Betting exchange Betfair has announced the appointment of Michael Bischoff as Director of Information Systems.
Bishoff joins Betfair from a role as Director of Global Technical Services at LCH.Clearnet, a financial instrument clearing house serving international exchanges and OTC markets.
Key aspects of the position include leading a team of 120 technologists and the co-ordination of the company’s information systems across Europe and the USA.
The appointment follows a spate of resignations in Betfair’s middle and senior management structure this year, sparking a disquieting belief that the company lacks direction.
Commenting on his appointment, Michael Bischoff said: “I am very pleased to be joining Betfair at this exciting time for the company and I look forward to bringing my experience in the media, telecoms and most recently, financial services sectors, to bear in this new role.”
Tony McAlister, Chief Technology Officer of Betfair added: “I am delighted to welcome Michael to Betfair as part of a senior technology team which continues to grow in stature and strength. Michael’s experience serving major international stock exchanges will help us as we continue our global expansion.”
