News on 23 Jul 2014

TVG Network, a Betfair subsidiary which broadcasts and accepts horse racing bets in America, has announced the multi-year extension of its contract with the New York Racing Association (NYRA) in a deal that embraces live horse races at NYRA’s Aqueduct Racetrack, Belmont Park and Saratoga Racecourse.

TVG will increase the exposure for high definition telecasts from the premier New York thoroughbred races on its nationally distributed network, alongside a new series of features with NYRA’s on-track television hosts and significantly increased on-site productions. It will additionally expand its sponsorship activities.

Kip Levin, CEO of TVG and Betfair USA, said this week that his company and the NYRA had made significant investments in High Definition television capabilities over the past year and the extended agreement allows both to provide the highest quality coverage to the greatest number of people possible on a daily basis.

In related news, Betfair, GameAccount Network and Trump Plaza sources in New Jersey have confirmed that the three companies’ online gambling enterprise in New Jersey will not be affected by the planned closure of the Trump Plaza Casino Hotel (see previous reports).

The companies have discussed the issue with a senior representative of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, and the strictly regulated online casino and poker operation will continue to offer services to New Jersey punters.
