The Irish and international sports broadcaster Setanta has revealed that it plans to enter the online gambling sector in collaboration with the French Internet gambling operator ChilliGaming. Serving some 600 000 households, Setanta makes for a powerful partner.
It is understood that the enterprise will see the launch of SetantaBet on February 1st, focused on the Irish market and offering sports betting services along with online poker and casino action.
“This partnership showcases the potential for a media organisation to target its own audience with its own gaming product,” said Setanta Sports co-founder Michael O’Rourke this week. “We believe that we can enhance the entertainment experience of our customers with premium sports and gaming products, and we are confident that this will allow us to become a key player in the Irish gaming industry.
“Setantabet.com will share the Setanta Sports commitment to have a passionate, professional and impartial approach to sports. We select business partners who share the same values and goals as ourselves and we are delighted to be teaming up with Chiligaming in this regard.”
ChiliGaming founder Alexandre Dreyfus said: “In addition to the online betting, we will jointly promote Chilipoker in Ireland and will become the new premium home for Irish poker players.
“I am very proud and ambitious about our new partnership with Setanta. We are going to deliver both Setanta’s and Chili’s spirit to our players.”
Chiliaming has its own white label sportsbook, Chilibet.com, powered by Odds Matrix and has been extraordinarily successful despite the tough economic conditions lately. In 2009 the French company reported a 40 percent boost in revenues to almost $12 million .
