Aussie online sports firm launches ATM card

Paddy Power’s Australian online sports betting subsidiary Sportsbet has announced the launch of a branded cash card, giving instant access to punters who want to collect their winnings from automated teller machines (ATMs)

Sportsbet customers can withdraw their winnings as cash at any ATM or use the card via eftpos anywhere in Australia, the announcement reveals. They can transfer winnings to their Sportsbet Cash card on all of the bookmakers wagering platforms, including the mobile app, through integrated technology.

“Our 1.8 million customers love the superior value for money and better range of betting markets they get from Sportsbet – but many of them still love the feel of real cash in their hand – now they can have the best of both worlds,” Sportsbet.com.au CEO Cormac Barry said.

“Sportsbet customers can transfer winnings onto their Sportsbet Cash card via our mobile and tablet betting apps and not just via desktop.”

The card, created by Emerchants, will allow Sportsbet customers to access winnings using a personalised Sportsbet Cash EFTPOS card.

“We’re excited to be working with Sportsbet.com.au and bringing our innovative payment solutions to their customers,” Tom Cregan managing director of Emerchants said.

Emerchants are also the creators of the similar Ladbrokes Visa card.

In related news, the Australian operations of online gambling operator bet365 have confirmed a multi-year agreement with Emerchants to provide customers with reloadable payment cards, with an implementation date early in 2015 planned.
