The latest annual report from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation reveals that online gambling operations, although still very small compared to overall BCLC commercial activity, grew by almost 20 percent year-on-year in 2014.

The PlayNow.com online gambling site delivered revenues of Cdn$109.1 million from a base of 360,000 online punters.

During the year the operation extended its reach with the launch of 19 new mobile device-based games, whilst the sports betting vertical introduced prop betting facilities and the first live venue sportsbook as a pilot project with the Starlight Casino.

The report notes that online player satisfaction with the PlayNow services was recorded as 78 percent last year – impressive, but below the target of 83 percent, and an issue that will be addressed with increased focus on improving the mobile experience.

In terms of overall performance, the BCLC achieved a new record for revenues in fiscal 2014-2015, where profits rose almost 7 percent to Cdn$1.25 billion from revenue of Cdn$2.9 billion. Net win per player was up Cdn$28 to Cdn$482, and high roller VIP action thrived, with casino table game revenue up 22 percent to Cdn$555.1 million.
