Dutch authority casts steely eye on gambling apps

The Dutch gambling authority Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has warned operators and platform providers to ensure their gambling apps and accompanying promotions are not accessible to Dutch consumers.

The KSA said it had identified 49 real-money gambling-related apps that are now under investigation.

Initially concentrating its efforts on real-money gambling apps, but citing recent Australian research that surmises children’s early exposure to simulated gambling games is likely to lead to problematic gambling behaviour in adulthood, the KSA said it will include social simulated gambling in future investigations.
