Eighth Colombian online gambling licence issued

News on 22 Feb 2018

The Colombian subsidiary of the Spanish Luckia gambling group, Luckia Colombia SA, has become the eighth operator to receive local licensing from regulator Coljuegos.

The online licence augments retail betting licenses already held in Colombia by the Luckia group in partnership with local gambling organisation Cornazar.

The licence came with a hefty Colombia fee the equivalent of US$4 million, and is valid for five years, according to local media reports.

The regulator reports that Colombian-licensed websites have signed up well over 210,000 online punters since licensing was made available in late 2016. Coljuegos president Juan Hidalgo has ambitions to licence up to 20 operators in time for the FIFA World Cup football betting bonanza later this year.
