French regulator to remain autonomous

A proposal by French politician Jean Luc Warsmann to absorb French online gambling regulator ARJEL with other government administrative bodies (see previous  report) has been rejected by lawmakers in the National Assembly, who argued that a transfer of responsibilities to a government department would create a significant conflict of interest.

Ruling Parti Socialiste (PS) representative Barbara Pompili said that this was not the right time to consider a major change in the regulation of iGaming.
