More illegal Chinese nationals arrested in the Philippines

News on 20 Apr 2017

The Bureau of Immigration in the Philippines has been active this week, arresting a total of 55 allegedly illegal Chinese immigrants engaged in illegal gambling operations in the Bataan Freeport Zone.

In the latest raid, 38 Chinese nationals were detained and taken to the BI detention centre in Taguig. A BI spokesman said that their passports had already been cancelled by the Chinese Embassy.

BI spokesperson Antonette H. Mangrobang told local media that those arrested would be deported to China for involvement in economic crimes and for not having the requisite Philippines immigration permits.

In November last year, the BI arrested 1,316 Chinese nationals in the Jack Lam-operated Fontana Leisure Parks and Casino in Pampanga, Clark Freeport (see previous reports).
