Important Nevada meeting next week

News on 22 Jun 2012

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval and his 11-strong advisory Gaming Policy Committee meet next Wednesday in Las Vegas to discuss recommendations for the 2013 legislative session on the issue of real-money online poker, reports Card Player.com.

The authoritative and reliable publication surmises that at least part of the discussions will relate to Assembly Bill 258, which – subject to the approval of the US Department of Justice and Congress – legitimised intrastate online poker in Nevada when it was passed last year .

Card Player suggests that following the events of December 2011, when the Department of Justice admitted that the Wire Act applied only to online sports betting, some revision of the AB258’s wording may be on the agenda in the interests of clarification.

Other topics will likely include the strengthening of post-licensing regulatory standards for online poker companies.

‘This will be the committee’s fourth meeting this year.
