Massachusetts pioneers a new state-wide anti-problem gambling program

News on 17 Mar 2016

State gambling regulators in Massachusetts will today (Thursday) discuss a new first-in-the nation system titled “Play My Way” that allows land casino patrons to set limits on their betting, and is scheduled to launch next month.

Designed and introduced to curb problem gambling in the state, the program will be launched at slots parlour Plainridge Park; if successful it will be deployed state-wide, including at major new resorts planned by Wynn Resorts and MGM.

This sort of system will be the first in the United States, although similar programs have been introduced in Singapore, Norway, Sweden and Canada, according to a report from the Associated Press news agency.

Play My Way encourages punters to electronically set a budget before they start gambling, and then receive automatic notification tracking their wagering.
