Nevada Gaming Control Board restructuring for online

News on 7 Feb 2015

A restructuring of the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s (NGCB) workforce will better reflect the expansion and control of online gambling in Nevada, chairman of the NGCB A.G. Burnett told the Nevada Senate Finance Committee earlier this week.

Ten employees from the investigations division will be reassigned to other departments, with three of those being deployed to work in cybercrime investigations.

The expansion to increase cybercrime investigation is necessary considering the prevalence of internet-enabled devices used by criminals, Burnett said.

A budget request for $4 million, if allocated, will revitalise the NGCB’s online information system.  Burnett is concerned that the NGCB will be the target of a security breach as other large corporations such as Sony and Home Depot have recently been.

“I’m extremely concerned that the data could be penetrated and stolen,” he said. “The last thing I want on my watch is for that to happen.”
