New anti-illegal gambling website launched

The US land casino trade body, the American Gaming Association has boosted its year-long “Stop Illegal Gambling – Play it Safe” campaign with the launch late last week of a new website titled stopillegalgambling.org/.

The AGA has also announced a partnership that will look at training law enforcement, reviewing laws and communicating concerns, claiming that consumer protections in illegal gambling are non-existent and law enforcement lacks tools to protect the integrity of games.

Geoff Freeman, president and CEO of the AGA, said in a press release:

“The AGA’s initiative has been instrumental in building a strong partnership with law enforcement and drawing a stark contrast between the legal, regulated gaming industry and shady, illegal operators.”

Stopillegalgambling.org/ flags five key areas of illegal gambling threats – online betting, animal betting (cockfighting and dogfighting), sports betting, internet cafes and black market machines.

It also identifies the AGA’s partners in the campaign, including two Murphys – former FBI deputy director Tim and former Boston police commissioner Ed.

In related news, the publication CDC Gaming reports that the AGA has also announced that it is to host a major law enforcement summit in June this year in Washington, D.C.
