Scientific Games awarded Romanian licence

US gaming firm Scientific Games will expand its online offer in Europe following the award of a license from the Romanian Gaming Authority.

The award progresses Scientific Games’ aggressive strategy to obtain “rapid approval” in all newly regulated jurisdictions, a company statement said. The company is poised to enter Italy and Portugal later this year.

“With such a strong audience in Europe, we knew a rapid expansion into Romania focused on providing one of the deepest and broadest portfolios of content to operators and players alike would be beneficial for everyone,” Bob Hays, vice president commercial, Interactive at Scientific Games, said. “The players there are passionate about our content, and with many of our existing customers already licensed to operate in Romania, we’ll be able to hit the ground running with our proven portfolio. We anticipate this being the first of many efficient expansions into newly regulated locations.”
