The Colombian gambling regulator Coljuegos has announced the award of its sixth online gambling licence to Grupo Empresarial Geoline SA, a Bogota-based company which will offer betting services to Colombian online punters through its Mijugada.co brand.

Coljuegos chief Juan Perez said the value of the licence was the equivalent in local currency of around US$1.25 million. Two more licenses are in the pipeline, the regulator revealed

The brand’s website advises that operations will commence in about a month’s time, with the licence valid for a period of three years.

Colombia is the first South American national government to launch an online gambling regulatory regime supported with strong enforcement measures to protect licensees from unauthorised offshore rivals.

One of the provisions in its regulations allows poker player pool sharing with other suitable jurisdictions.
