Spanish sports betting the next target for the 888 juggernaut

News on 3 Feb 2014

There’s no stopping the international juggernaut that is 888 Holdings’ new business division, it appears.

The Gibraltar-based company has just signed a partnership agreement on internet sports betting with Spanish land casino operator Nervion, which will conveniently provide the necessary Spanish licensing through its subsidiary Apuestas Ganador Online.

The deal comes as the world gears up for the Brazil-hosted World Cup football, and provides further evidence that 888 has more irons in the fire than its recent high profile activities in the United States .

888 CEO Brian Mattingley is confident that his company will be operational in Spanish sports betting in good time for the World Cup later this year, although he displayed some candour in admitting that the group has yet to build its sports book.

The Gibraltar-based company has a solid history in Spanish online gambling activity, and regulatory problems with the Apuestas Ganador Online licence are not anticipated.
