Turmoil at Romanian regulator’s offices

The Romanian newspaper Bursa reports that the management team at the Romanian National Office for Gambling (ONJN) has been replaced on the orders of the national prime minister, Viorica Dăncilă.

The chief regulator Dan Iliovici, who has been in post for just over a year, was among those removed from office; he has been replaced by former Director-General of the General Directorate for Computerization and Monitoring of Gambling at ONJN, Marius Ionescu.

Other departures for reasons that are not immediately clear include Vice-President Valentin Korman (replaced by Mihai Roventa, Head of Service for Control Slots, Lotto Games, On-Line Games and Betting, and Secretary General Florin Preda (replaced by Tudor Simota, Director General of the Directorate-General for Supervision and Control.

Former Rombet executive Iliovici was appointed head of ONJN on March 23 last year by then prime minister Sorin Mihai Grindeanu; he replaced Ms. Odeta Nestor.
