The London-listed interactive media gaming company, NetplayTV plc has appointed Clive William Jones CBE (Commander of the British Empire) as its non-executive chairman with immediate effect. Martin Higginson will continue to exercise his responsibilities as Chief Executive Officer.
Jones (60) has had a distinguished broadcasting career that started in 1978 when he produced award winning news programmes and documentaries for ITV. He then moved into management firstly as an Editor of TVAM and then as Managing Director of Central Television, and the London News Network. He has held a number of top jobs in the media industry such as Chief Executive of both ITV News and Carlton UK Television, and is currently Non-Executive Chairman of GMTV and a Non-Executive Director of S4C, as well as Governor of the National Film and Television School.
A company spokesman said that Netplay is now well positioned to deliver revenue generating programming to broadcasters as well as continue to develop further Internet and mobile games.
Over the past two years the company has proved that live gambling over modern media is a sustainable and profitable form of entertainment, with its customers now demanding more “live” gaming products.
Martin Higginson said: “I’d like to welcome Clive to the NetPlay TV Board. He brings with him a wealth of experience in terms of his management skills, corporate governance and his connections in the media world.
“Over the past two years we have proved that interactive live gaming can work and we’re now ready to roll out our successful formats to new broadcasters and partners alike.”
