New commissioner appointed oversee Victorian gambling

The territory of Victoria in Australia has appointed a new commissioner to the body that controls and supervises all gambling in the region, the Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation.
Victoria’s Gaming Minister, Tony Robinson, announced the appointment of former Victorian Auditor-General Ches Baragwanath, noting that his professional experience and reputation for integrity and independence made him an excellent fit for a senior role at the state’s gambling regulator.
“Ches Baragawanth has been associated with the highest standard of integrity since his time as Auditor-General in the 1990s,” Robinson said. “His commitment to objectivity and scrupulous decision-making will make a valuable contribution to maintaining a strong and independent gambling regulator in Victoria.”
Baragwanath was Auditor-General of Victoria from August 1988 to July 1999. Prior to that, he was the Internal Audit Manager with the State Electricity Commisison and Assistant Auditor-General in the Australian National Audit Office.
