News on 16 Jan 2009

The German horseracing betting channel e8 television has launched on Astra after running extensive test transmissions since mid-2008. The channel, which transmits horse races from around the world, is available as a free-to-air service within APS Astra Platform Service’s digital package.
The facility is backed by a live-streaming website at qui8.de covering horse races from Germany, the UK, Sweden, South Africa, the USA and Dubai.
Viewers can place bets via the Internet on the horses they expect to win. The channel also carries information about horses, owners, jockeys and coaches, and features studio guests such as jockey champions and other experts who offer expert information on the racing industry.
e8 television is backed by European TV broadcaster SpiritON Media SE, which also operates TV channels SpiritON.TV and meinTVshop. The channel is produced by Munich-based media service provider Redspider networks which formerly produced horse betting channel Premiere Win for pay-TV operator Premiere.
