Atlantic City casinos still under pressure

News on 11 Feb 2009

Atlantic City’s eleven land casinos continued to battle in tough economic conditions in January 2009, improving slightly on December 2008’s record revenue decline but still 9.4 percent below the same period in 2008.
The gambling venues won $211.6 million at the slot machines, down 9.6 percent, and $109.8 million at table games, down 9.1 percent, reports Associated Press. In all, the establishments won $321.4 million.
Atlantic City’s revenue decline, now in its third year, coincided with the opening of slots parlours in Pennsylvania and New York.
