Another Aussie club turns its back on betting sponsorships

Australian Football League Club Carlton is the latest to join the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation (VRGF), turning its back on sports gambling sponsorships under the club’s new administration.

Carlton FC (The Blues), who haVE benefited from sponsorship deals with William Hill and Sportingbet in the past, will reportedly sign a three-year sponsorship deal with the VRGF, SMH Daily reports.

Other Victorian clubs who have joined what has been described as a “cultural shift” include Essendon, Richmond, Western Bulldogs, St Kilda, North Melbourne, Collingwood and Melbourne Victory.

As with many others, the club will however continue to operate pokie machines.
