Another ice hockey sponsorship for Betsson

News on 1 Sep 2018

The Betsson gambling group has followed its recent sponsorship agreement with the Swedish Hockey League (see previous report) with an agreement to sponsor the Championship Hockey League (CHL)

Besides digital and physical exposure of the Betsson brand, the agreement also includes the ability to create exclusive content around the games. In addition to the financial support for the league, the ambition of the sponsorship is to build bridges between the Swedish and international hockey leagues.

“We are already the main sponsors of SHL and are now deepening our commitment to ice hockey further. To see the Swedish and Finnish top teams facing competition from some of the other European teams is exciting and good for hockey. It is also exciting for us and further proof to a goal of being hockey’s top betting operator in Europe,” says Peter Zäll, chief strategy officer at Betsson.

The Champions Hockey League is fully owned and operated by Champions Hockey League AG/Ltd which includes, as its shareholders, the 26 founding clubs, six national founding leagues and the International Ice Hockey Federation.

The CHL season culminates in a one-game final showdown to be played on 5 February 2019 at the home venue of the team with the best accumulated group stage and play-off record. A season total of 125 games

The Champions Hockey League AG (CHL) is a company established in 2013 in Switzerland that holds all rights of the Champions Hockey League and organises the competition.
