Argentina’s Public Prosecutor, Martin Lapadú has initiated action against online sports betting site Miljugadas1.com for illegal and unauthorised activity, ordering that the domain is ISP-blocked and obtaining a court order freezing bank accounts associated with the operation.

The prosecutor’s office has also ordered financial companies to halt the processing of any financial transactions with the betting site, warning that non-compliance could result in prosecution for assisting an illegal enterprise..

The prosecutor claims that the operator has targeted residents of the city of Buenos Aires, where it does not have permission or authority to operate.

The operator of Misiones province-based Miljugadas1.com is no stranger to controversy, which had its licence pulled by the Provincial Institute of Lotteries and Casinos in 2012 for failing to maintain a mirror server required for monitoring purposes by the Institute.
