News on 10 Oct 2012

French gambling authority ARJEL has clarified its position with regard to a cooperation agreement signed with the Spanish Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego last month.
The purpose of the agreement signed by Alejo Enrique Gonzalez, chief executive officer of the Dirección General de Juego del Ordenación (DGOJ) and Jean-François Vilotte, President of ARJEL, is to fight against illegal sites more effectively, preserve the ethics of sport competitions and to enhance the protection of the players.

Vilotte reiterated that the bilateral agreement does not allow for mutual pooling of poker games due to French legislative restrictions.

In related news, Vilotte was elected in Strasbourg as vice chairman of the committee drafting an international convention against manipulation of sports results under the aegis of the Council of Europe.  The Finnish Governments Sports Director was awarded the presidency.
