Arkansas vovernor approves suspendion of online games

News on 4 Jul 2014

Republican Party lawmakers in the Arkansas legislature have succeeded in temporarily derailing a move to introduce online games by the state lottery.

At a special session of the legislature, state lawmakers approved an amended bill from a Republican senator calling for a suspension of the lottery’s initiative so that the issue of online games could be more thoroughly understood and discussed by the legislature (see previous reports)

The original bill had called for a total ban, but this was amended following committee discussions on the initiative and the possible state government revenue benefits it could generate.

Governor Mike Beebe immediately signed the amended bill into law following the special session.
