Hot on the heels of the FY2016 Atlantic City numbers released Thursday by the New Jersey Division for Gaming Enforcement (see previous report) comes the news that December 2016 was another good month for online gambling.

In December the sector delivered revenues of $18.4 million, a year-on-year increase of 31 percent as the online poker and casino subsidiaries owned by partnerships between online gambling firms and licensed Atlantic City land operators continued to prosper.

The figures also represent a new monthly record for New Jersey online gambling, overtaking the previous benchmark set in July by over $1 million dollars.

Online casinos contributed the majority of the revenue at $16.2 million, up year-on-year by 35 percent, whilst online poker numbers were up 6 percent at $2.1 million.

As previously reported, on an annual basis last year online casinos delivered $170.2 million in revenue, and online poker $26.5 million, up 32 and 11.3 percent respectively.

December’s star was the online casino site belonging to Golden Nugget, which generated $4.79 million in revenue – a new record for the company’s online enterprise, and indeed for individual sites in the sector generally. Golden Nugget has been dominating its rivals in the sector for much of the past four months.

Borgata followed with revenue of $3.71 million, and Caesars Interactive reported $3.66 million.

Resorts Digital’s partnership with Amaya-Pokerstars saw that business occupying the fourth spot on $3.14 million, and the Tropicana trailed with its casino-only product generating $3.09 million.

From an annual perspective, last year saw Borgata deliver the best overall online performance at $47 million, followed by Golden Nugget ($42.2 million), Caesars Interactive ($38.6 million), Tropicana ($36.9 million) and Resorts Digital ($31.7 million).
