Bangladesh blocks online gambling sites

176 online gambling websites have been blocked following an instruction from the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to internet gateway and telecom departments this past weekend.

“It might take few more hours to block all the sites completely as blocking any site is so technical,” Md Emdadul Hoque, general secretary of the Internet Service Provider Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB), said.

Telecom Minister Mustafa Jabbar confirmed ongoing action would continue to eradicate online gambling targeting Bangladeshis altogether.
